For independent UK brands

A more organised route from product idea to production partner.

Northbridge is for growing clothing brands that need more than a directory of factories. We structure the requirement, investigate suitable manufacturers and keep the development process clear enough to make informed decisions.

01

Product brief development

Turn the concept into a practical sourcing brief covering construction, fabric, finish, quantity, target timing and approval needs.

02

Manufacturer search

Identify prospective factories whose stated capabilities, minimum quantities and export profile fit the product.

03

Supplier screening

Collect and organise company identity, capability, production, quality and commercial information for review.

04

Sample coordination

Maintain specifications, comments, revisions and deadlines through initial samples and development rounds.

05

Factory engagement

Arrange remote meetings and, where commercially justified, conduct structured in-person factory visits in China.

06

Production communication

Support written actions and communication while the brand retains product approval and contracting decisions.

For Chinese manufacturers

Develop considered relationships with independent UK brands.

The process

Evidence before volume.

A suitable manufacturing relationship is developed in stages. Each stage should answer enough questions to justify the next.

1

Define

Clarify the garment, construction, fabric, measurements, branding, quantity, budget context and approval process.

2

Search

Identify prospective manufacturers and screen their stated capability, identity, MOQ and commercial fit.

3

Develop

Coordinate questions, quotations and sample rounds with revisions and decisions recorded clearly.

4

Validate

Use sample evaluation, appropriate checks and factory engagement before considering a production commitment.

Founding pilot

Start with one clearly defined product.

Northbridge is currently developing its initial manufacturing network and accepting a limited number of pilot sourcing enquiries. The pilot is deliberately narrow so both the product and the process can be evaluated before a larger commitment is made.

Propose a pilot product

A pilot may include

  • Clarified product and supplier requirements
  • A focused manufacturer shortlist
  • Organised capability and commercial information
  • Open questions and unverified supplier claims
  • Sample-development plan and indicative costs
  • A practical recommendation for the next stage

Clear responsibilities

Support without blurred accountability.

Northbridge supports

  • Product and supplier requirement definition
  • Commercial supplier research and screening
  • Quotations, samples and written follow-up
  • Factory meetings and visit coordination
  • Documented risks and open questions

The brand retains

  • Design ownership and technical approval
  • Testing, labelling and regulatory compliance
  • Supplier qualification and final selection
  • Sample and production acceptance
  • Purchase orders and contractual commitments

Northbridge does not currently act as manufacturer, importer of record, accredited quality auditor or product-testing authority, and does not hold client production funds. Identification by Northbridge does not constitute supplier approval.

Northbridge is being built around careful preparation, direct manufacturer engagement and honest reporting. We do not claim an established factory network before it has been developed, and information that has not been independently verified is identified as such.
